In his 2024 essay Machines of Loving Grace he was more careful: 50 to 100 years of biological progress compressed into 5 to 10, starting once powerful AI arrives. The tweet dropped the condition.

I truly believe AI will transform life sciences. It will find targets, design molecules, select patients, improve trials, and draft regulatory submissions. Every step can become faster.
But then the molecule meets human biology.

Amodei's strongest case is that regulation changes too. His June essay proposes streamlining the FDA. Synthetic control arms and real-world evidence could shrink some trials. Regulators have real opportunity, but change won't come overnight.
