Interesting insights from Microsoft's Chief Medical Officer David Rhew, M.D. at ArabHealth in Dubai.
Not surprisingly, Microsoft is investing heavily in GenAI in healthcare. Ambient scribes save up to 30% of admin time of the HCP.
The next step beyond saving admin time is the development of multimodal models, including genomic data, biological data, and social determinants of health for risk stratification, longitudinal follow up in cohorts for RWE generation, and finally prediction of outcomes.
This will include opportunistic screening from EHRs, including even identifying misdiagnosis. Eventually, even voice or eye exams can be transformed into diagnostics tools for a broad range of diseases such as cardiovascular conditions and brain health issues.
Finally, agentic AI will be the next step to increasingly automate this process. However, all of this will only be adopted if we are able to drive this in a trusted manner.
