Great conversation on how AI is reshaping VirtualCare, with fellow panelists Hala Alhodaib, PhD...
I joined fellow panelists from Saudi FDA, WEF, LEAN, and others at the menatelehealth conference in Riyadh to discuss how AI is reshaping virtual care. We explored Saudi Arabia's regulatory sandbox approach, high-impact use cases from LLMs in critical care to agentic AI, and the infrastructure enabling it all.

Great conversation on how AI is reshaping VirtualCare, with fellow panelists Hala Alhodaib, PhD (Saudi FDA), Antonio Spina (WEF), Abdulrahman Alfaqih, MBA (LEAN), Harold Arkoff, MD (OSSI), and Anas Alashraf (Devoteam), at the menatelehealth conference in Riyadh yesterday.
We covered all angles of this fast-evolving topic. Saudi Arabia's regulatory authority is taking a bold step by launching a virtual sandbox approach that allows rapid, real-world piloting of healthcare AI solutions. This initiative is supported by a strong digital infrastructure developed by Lean Business Services.
We also explored several high-impact use cases, including the use of LLMs in critical care within controlled environments, centralized teleradiology powered by radiology foundation models, the application of ambient scribe technology in virtual care to generate high quality real-world evidence for future AI improvement, and the emergence of agentic AI to support patients before and after hospital visits.
Big thanks to Dr. Meshari F. Alwashmi for guiding such a thoughtful and engaging discussion, and to the MWAN Events team for putting together a well-run and impactful conference.
