So far, AI basically just talks back to you, which is amazing enough. Now imagine AI not just responding to you, but actually taking action on your behalf. That shift is already happening in software coding, and healthcare is next.
Interestingly, my posts on Agentic AI have gotten some of the least engagement from my audience. Is it just the LinkedIn algorithm, or is healthcare sleeping on this shift?
I nevertheless remain convicted that AI agents are going to bring a fundamental shift in the way we work, including in healthcare, in the next five years.
To illustrate the point, here's an interesting discussion from Amit Khanna, SVP at Salesforce.
• Healthcare automation is scaling fast – Agentforce is designed to automate complex workflows like benefits verification, clinical trial matching, and disease surveillance, reducing administrative burdens.
• The focus is on augmenting, not replacing, human roles – AI agents free up staff for higher-value tasks while ensuring patients get faster and more personalized support.
• Adoption challenges remain – Organizations need to integrate these agents effectively, ensuring they complement existing workflows rather than creating new silos.
Is Salesforce partially riding a hype cycle, and will implementation remain hard? Absolutely. But you need to start exploring Agentic AI now.
